Lake Sambell Caravan Park Beechworth Review
We had a terrific long weekend stay at the Lake Sambell Caravan Park Beechworth.
It was freezing, no doubt about it. Winter in Beechworth is chilly! We were part of a group of 5 families visiting Beechworth for the June long weekend. We all stayed in self-contained cabins which were basic but the heaters worked!!
Lake Sambell Caravan Park Location
Beechworth Lake Sambell Caravan Park is located on the banks of Lake Sambell and only minutes away from the centre of historic Beechworth in northeast Victoria.
It really is an easy walk into town through the gorgeous old trees.

A range of 17 cabins and villas for 2 to 6 guests and there are even 7 pet-friendly cabins! The cabins have ensuites and air conditioning. My only gripe with the cabins was the hot water system. There was nothing to warn us that the hot water runs out after a few minutes! I am surprised you didn’t hear Olive scream ha!
There are over 100 powered and unpowered camping sites across the whole park. Plus 3 onsite vans.

The camp kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need. It was quite busy with campers when we stayed. Includes all the mod con’s –

- Kettle and toaster
- Television with DVD player
- Coin operated heater
- Seating for up to 30 people
Rail trail and mountain biking
The park is right on the rail trail (500 metres away) and it is a simple ride to the Beechworth Mountain Bike path. We quite enjoy the mountain bike park at Beechworth. Various trails of different levels to suit beginners to advanced.

Overall thoughts on Lake Sambell Caravan Park
You really can find everything you need to know these days on company websites. But for an honest review, we can say that we really enjoyed our long weekend at Lake Sambell Caravan Park. It is a perfect location, great open spaces, friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, everything was clean and well maintained. The kids loved riding their bikes around the park and the mini golf course was a hit. The lake is lovely to walk around and it’s an easy walk into town.
I can see that it would be fabulous to camp there over summer (but I imagine it would feel a lot different if all the camping sites were fully booked).
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, either camping or in a cabin (we will just remember to have short showers).
