When you head for a summer adventure across the world with your family, one of the exciting things to do is rent a car so that you have more scope when it comes to leaving the hotel and exploring your surroundings. Today we are going to take a look specifically at hiring a car, and how you can save money on this pastime for your holiday this year.
Get the package
A lot of the time when you look at holidays abroad you will likely be taking a look at packet deals which have many different hotels and flights all rolled into one. One of the ways to gain affordable airport car hire is to pick a package holiday which includes a hire car with it. It is a simple thing and many package deals will give you this option to make life easier for you.
Full-to-empty fuel policy
The fuel to empty policy is something which is very popular in countries such as Spain and it is where you have to empty the car as much as you can before you take the car back to the dealer and this can be a big risk. It also means that the customer pays a huge sum for a full tank at the start of the trip and sometimes they won’t even use all of it. Always try to go for the full to full policy which will allow you to get your own fuel and this will save you a lot of money.
Collision Damage Waiver is not the same as car insurance as we know it and it won’t cover the same things as our policy usually does. A lot of the time rental companies simply want an excuse to make more money from you and this can be a big issue when you rest a car. Make sure to read all of the terms before you choose something like this with your hire car.
Make the most of it
If you are going to hire a car, make sure that you will use it during your stay and that you won’t waste the money on this. Before you head for a holiday with your loved ones have a think about the kind of things you want to do during the break and where you want to go. A lot of the time in other countries the public transport is reliable so heading to the city for a shopping trip can easily be done without a car. Think about whether you really need a car for the trip because if you plan on some days sitting by the pool reading a book, this isn’t going to work for you. Make sure that if you hire a car you have a full idea of where you want to travel and also make sure to print maps off before you head for an adventure so that you know where to go and also so that you know how much fuel you need to use.
