Our thoughts from staying in the uber-chic and luxury Steel House Hostel Copenhagen.

Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark
The Steel House – a new level of Luxury Hostel
The Steel House Hostel in Copenhagen is a modern and stylish hostel located in the trendy Vesterbro neighborhood, just a short walk from the central train station. It was an easy 10 minute walk from the train station (Even in the snow!).
As its name suggests, the building itself is constructed from steel, giving it a unique and industrial feel.
Staying at The Steel House, Copenhagen reinvigorated my love of hostels. Just wow! It was terrific. We only had 2 nights over the weekend so it was a very quick stay although I feel if we stayed longer we would have come across even more fabulous facilities at this hotel.
Rooms
We stayed in a 4 bedroom bunk room at the Steel House. The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. We had 2 sets of bunks, each with its own reading light, power point, and storage ‘nook’.
I only have two negatives about the room. Firstly there was no table or chairs. We perched things on the window ledge. It wouldn’t have needed to be big (or have 4 chairs) but a little desk to put things on would have been very handy. My second negative would be the bathroom light. It was on a timer and seemed to stay on for a long time after you had finished in the bathroom. I can imagine this getting annoying if you were staying with others in the room.
Otherwise, the rooms were spacious with lockers and hanging hooks for jackets etc.
There are a variety of room styles available including dorm rooms and private rooms. Sheets and towels were also provided.

Staff
The staff at the Steel House Hostel are friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, and totally family-friendly.
The hostel also offers a variety of activities and events, including pub crawls, bike tours, and movie nights. In fact, we joined a free walking tour from the hostel.
Facilities at the Steel House Copenhagen
The Steel House Copenhagen has an amazing array of facilities within its walls and common areas.
Unfortunately after a vomiting episode on the flight we needed to use the laundry facilities!!! So we can tell you that this area is well set up with plenty of machines and a soap dispenser with coins.
There is a TV room, lounge area, gym and also a pool (for an extra fee). There is a large kitchen which looks to have all modern appliances. The kitchen is open daily from 6am – 12am, and you can use it for your full stay for DKK 20,-.
Other facilities at the Steel House Copenhagen include –
- Free Wifi
- Parking
- Bike hire
- Breakfast – grab n go
- Bar
- Lounge
- Common areas
- Massive luggage storage
Overall, I would highly recommend the Steel House Hostel for families visiting Copenhagen. It’s a great option for travelers on a budget who want to stay in a stylish and comfortable environment in a convenient location. There was nothing ‘budget’ about this hostel at all. It is modern, clean, funky, and a terrific option for a stay in Copenhagen.
During our weekend stay in Copenhagen, we enjoyed Tivoli Gardens, the Planetarium, hotdogs, hot chocolate, pastries, a free walking tour, and a canal boat tour. This was our first stop along our White Christmas adventure. You can read about our Sweden ice breaker tour, Tallinn or catching the Lux Express Bus 🙂

First of many hot chocolates!
