Family Bali Trip
We’ve been to Bali twice before. Once when Ned was about 1.5 and again when he was 3 and Olive was about 11 months.
I’m not going to re-hash old information here and there are plenty of amazing sites you can follow to plan your adventure including –
We struggled with our first trip to Bali. Ned was sick before we left and it really took a while for all of us to settle into the 2 hour time difference. We also didn’t love the villa’s we stayed in. We spent hours and hours researching villa’s but didn’t make the right choice. We stayed in two different villa’s on our first trip.
There are so many AMAZING villa’s to stay in in Bali and it’s hard to believe how things have changed (in terms of searching for and having family travel blogs to help) in a few short years.
The first villa was not very child friendly. We didn’t arrange a temporary pool fence (there are a companies which arrange this for you) Also, the bedrooms didn’t feel particularly secure.

It really was a lovely pool, just not what I really wanted for our villa experience
The second villa was part of a complex. There are so many better villa options! We also found Jimbaran Bay hard with a young child and there wasn’t a great variety of food to eat on the beach.

Lovely pool, just too closed in being within a resort complex
Our second trip was more successful and this was a very easy resort holiday and we had a wonderful nanny for a few days. I’d still choose Thailand over Bali purely for the food!
I’m not sure about returning to Bali. There are loads of awesome villa’s and also resorts and it’s such an economical destination from Melbourne. I think if we were to return we would like to head off the beaten path and explore more of the untouched areas.
I’m more than happy for someone to talk me into going back and exploring deeper!!
